I didn't spend 500 years with a periscope pointed at me.
( She's planted by the window, peering out of the drawn curtains. Being on the run now leaves her no time to really relax. She gets a few hours sleep in when she can. They take turns and rarely come together. One of them has to always be alert.
This is nothing like being on the run as Katherine Pierce. She could fade into the background and stalk people with Klaus on her tail. Not that she didn't learn later in her life that he merely planted rumors of himself looking for her to go on his own run.
Pathetic. She still avoids him. Ignores everything about him. He has a daughter? That's right. She facilitated that.
It's water under his bridge and she has better things.
One other difference, she had an army of people at her beck and call thanks to compulsion. She doesn't have that here. She only has Damian. And he's fraying at the edges. )
I thought Kirsanov would have teamed up with one of the already dead witches, but I guess he's connected to the parent of an heir. ( She looks back at him. ) It'll be over soon. I feel it. They have until the solstice, right? Either way. The way I see it, it's good guys or bad. They're only chasing us because we destroyed their oldest friend's body.
Chasing, but not catching. It's almost like they're toying with us.
[It has been months, and he's starting to wonder what the hold up is. Whether it's worth the effort to keep them scared but not to actually kill them. Maybe they didn't care that much about Kirsanov, but still.
What are they after?
He looks back up at her and nods.]
But you're right. It's not going to be much longer now.
( Or, they are. She suspected it a few months back when she was able to time his sigil like clockwork to the day they'd arrive somewhere else. They always got at least two days, but never five. And, if they gave any remote signs of settling, his sigil would sound. Or, brighten.
She leaves the window, dropping down on her side of the bed, letting herself feel her own exhaustion. )
The Winchesters owe us. ( She cracks her neck. ) I'll take first watch. You need a few hours. You're starting to look how you feel. ( He's looked how he's felt for a week. But, this is her being nice. )
[He starts to shed his outer layers, prepared to climb into that very tempting bed, when the brand on his arm begins to pulse. Briefly at first before beginning to pulse faster and faster, and as he turns to Katherine, he just barely catches the glint (12) of a sniper rifle in the distance.
He doesn't have time to react, he just quickly pulls Katherine to the ground (18), barely seconds before the glass shatters above them.]
Only just barely. That's ... significantly more brutal than they've been in the past.
[He stays hovering just slightly over her, acting as a human shield as he reaches for the gun sitting on the table nearby. He pulls it down, checks the magazine, before pushing up and trying to take two shots at the sniper in the distance (3 vs. 18, 10 vs 11), one going wide and one glancing off the tree.]
They're too far away. I can't get a good lock on them.
( She waits for a second attempt from then, but continues to lie flat (nat 20 to not be hit). When he makes another attempt at shooting back, she quickly army crawls over to her bag. (18) for stealth. she pulls out her own gun, double checking her magazine. witch-killing bullets. she shoves it closed again, and pulls her self up as she leans by the window whose drapes are still closed.
after a second, she attempts her own shots: (13, 4) )
[The second shot misses (19), but it's mostly because they did not see the first attack coming (1), and Katherine manages to catch the sniper between the eyes, and there's a distant thud! of the body dropping from a tree.
( Katherine attempts (11) to sneak her way to the front door to plant herself on the side, ready to attack anyone that kicks the door in. Or, tries the lockpicking variety. Or, witchy.
[Damian takes the opposite side, gun up, ear pressed to the drywall to listen for the footsteps. It takes some time counting them all, listening to the voices, but he flashes three fingers at her briefly, before shaking his head and adding another finger to the mix. Four witches total.
And just before that happens, the door flies open and they start to flood into the room.]
( She nods - then sees a fourth finger rise. The closest witch, witch 1, she attempts to smack him with the butt of her gun (6) before grabbing his shoulders to knee him hard, but she's also tired and a (1) slips her hands through him completely. )
[Witch 1 just barely dodges the blow from the gun (7), before turning and contend with Katherine first hand, looking to try and restrain her (nat 20). Witch 2 will move to help (14), but Damian is going to shoot at Witch 2 twice (nat 20 vs. 8, 15 vs. 14) and 2 is forced to stumble away from her, heavily bleeding.
Witch 3 and 4 are going to come for Damian, blades out (9 vs. 14, 8 vs. 2), and while he gets sliced by the second, he manages to dodge the first.]
[The headbutt does connect (12), the shock causing his grip to slip as he tries to keep ahold of her (12).
Witch 2 tries to stumble to his feet, raising a hand in Damian's direction for a spell (4 vs. 13), but takes another two shots at him (7 vs. 4, nat 20 vs. 14), the second bullet catching the witch in the throat and dropping him to the ground.
Witch 3 and 4 take swipes at Damian again (11 vs. 13, 12 vs 13), and he still says out of the way of the blades as he backs up a bit further.]
( She gets a (15), to loosen her arm enough to properly hit him with her gun before aiming point blank. She hasn't been brutal like this in centuries, but when it's kill or be killed, that's being on the run and that's being a hunter. (17)
[Witch 1 still takes the hit (13), but twists just enough to avoid it getting somewhere dangerous. He tries to fling his hand out towards her throat, to try and get a bit of leverage (2), but she is wily, so he probably misses big time.
Witch 3 and 4 take another swipe at Damian (4 vs. 4, 5 vs. 8), one of which takes a slice out of his arm as he shields his face, but the other misses. As he shoves the first one back, he squints at his face.]
That you, Rooney?
[And then he tries to put two shots into him (7 vs. 17, 10 vs. nat 20), which the man flings away with magic. "Nothing personal, Jericho. But orders are orders."]
[Witch 1 grins, before trying again to get the hand around her throat (2), but fortunately for Katherine, he is still rolling like shit, so she might be able to sneak out of it.
Damian sees that, and attempts to take two more shots at 1 (19 vs. 10, 11 vs. 1), the second one catching him in the head and dropping 1 to the ground.
Rooney grits his teeth, before glancing to 4. "Take care of him, I'll handle the doppelganger." He steps back and turns to swing the knife at Katherine (10, 3).
Witch 4 takes two swipes at Damian (1 vs. 19, 12 vs. 3), the first one Damian manages to dodge, but manages to get caught in the shoulder when he realizes that Rooney is after a larger target.
They're not here because they finally managed to track him down. They're here because they're after Katherine.]
Hello? Branded man over here. I'm starting to feel a little superfluous.
( She's tired, overwhelmed, and human, while her partner is working three-on-one, so another (1) has Witch 1's hand wrapped around her neck - and then he drops down dead, Katherine gasping for breath.
The body drop invigorates her and she dodges both swipes, one easily, one just about (nat 20, 3). )
Hi, I'm Katherine. Rooney, is it?
( She tries to strongarm Rooney, catching his swipe, trying to flip his arm down and twist his wrist so he drops his knife. (18). )
[Rooney's knife slips from his fingers (8), but he's willing to let it drop, attempting to grapple her into a headlock (1), but that doesn't look like it's going to go well for him.
Witch 4 twists the knife in Damian's shoulder (17 vs 1), and Damian let's out a cry of pain as he feels a gush of blood over his shoulder, and he can't help but feel that something bad got sliced. He tries to shove the witch back (13 vs. 1) and the witch stumbles backwards, allowing him to get off a point blank stomach shot (12 vs. 11), dropping the witch to the ground as he slumps back against the bed.]
( Katherine stays out of his grasp, wiley, before drawing him forward and attempting to slam him down into the glass table in their little alcove, but loses grip as she hears Damian's pain (2) and Rooney jerks away. She hears the crunch of the knife, too, and her eyes go wide as only Rooney remains.
She knows what comes next as she ducks, giving her boyfriend a free shot at Rooney. End this so she can help. )
[He does. As Rooney lunges for Katherine again, Damian moves faster, raising his gun and firing twice (15 vs. 11, 19 vs. 11), and Rooney falls. He also puts one more in the final witch for good measure (12 vs. 10), before looking back up at her.]
There should be some vampire blood in my bag.
[His voice sounds a little faint, because he's definitely losing blood quickly, but hopefully that will be resolved shortly.]
( She scrambles over to his bag, crawling over one of the dead witches as she tugs his bag to the ground. It takes her longer than she should, a hunter's bad has compartments everywhere, but she's very familiar with vampire blood. She has her own stash as well, not that it would do any good for her, personally.
Getting to her feet, she reaches Damian in time to catch as his knees buckle and the pain sets in. Using one hand, her thumb unscrews the cap to the vial she's found before she places it at the edge of his mouth. ) Open wider. ( She tips the vial and it pours into his mouth. She doesn't save any for later. She wants this guaranteed.
With that done, she sets him down on the floor, against the bed before searching the witch bodies. She divests them of their guns and wallets, pulling out cash and credit cards, every few seconds, looking up at Damian. How is he doing? )

She pulls him down onto her, trying to flatten them both as she spots their bags across the room, one on the chair and one by the bureau.
Once the bullets cease, she lets go so he can roll off of her and stay low. )
