[Elena is very tired when she's reading these messages and she tries to make sense of them and while part of her knows that she couldn't have just brought Matt back to life by bleeding on him, she can't help but worry if she's made a mess.]
I bled on Matt.
When I arrived at the compound one of the witches put me under. Matt was there, and it reminded me of the Other Side, back before the anchor was broken. He said that it reminded him where he went when he was killed with the Gilbert rings, and he had to find his way back to his body. As we got closer to my body, I started bleeding and I definitely bled on him before I jumped back into my body and when I woke up, Matt was there.
I don't know if I actively wished for him but I did miss him and I have been thinking about him a lot lately.
Did I do this?
[Please tell her no, Rowena, so she can go to bed.]
Now, Samuel, nothing is permanent. All bodies give out. But, yes, that must be how the last Gauntlet ended. They didn't advertise it across a missive. When you learned their spirits were the original ancestors, I learned the same.
Elena, I highly doubt one doppelganger has the power it would take to bring your friend back. Likewise, Dean. Sam is the one with innate power and I don't hear anything about him wishing or performing a spell, himself. From what I understand, he was a part of the rescue party.
And, Elena, you didn't bleed on a werewolf in New Orleans or this Fred person. Perhaps you began a chain, or the unwieldy spell became even moreso once that power had nowhere to go. I wouldn't blame myself for errant magic. And I hardly blame you.
Not that I could tell you, I was unconscious, but I also didn't exist beforehand. So, unless your blood metaphysically moved across space and time, I wouldn't put you at the root of this.
You can let yourself off the hook.
If all that ends up hooey and Elena you somehow did, well, then I owe you a thank you and I'll do it in person.
So, like two thousand years ago this asshole named Silas stole an immortality potion and gave it to his great love Amara. Since immortality is inherently in opposition to the cycle of life, the magic of the world occasionally spits out copies or doppelgangers of them so that there is a version of them that exists in the world that can die.
However, somewhere along the way witches figured out that the blood of these doppelgangers is actually a very powerful spell ingredient. Curses, great magical workings, the whole nine yards, witches are always looking to track down the current doppelganger to use their blood to make their magic stronger.
Silas had an obsession with dying and almost took my life in order to be able to lose his. Quetsiyah created the other side just to trap him in it. That's the third woman in this love triangle gone to hell. He stole the potion from her.
Also, not that anybody asked, but I also survived a final assault on my life. Because of the D-word.
( Tyler was not coming on her to identify Jenna Sommers, but, such is life. )
Jenna was Elena's aunt. Are you saying Jenna Sommers is in Beacon Hills, Malia?
To add to the list, my mother wasn't on a bus bench and then she was. And @ waverly, someone named Charlie is asking for you if that name means anything.
Oh, maybe. But it's hard to say when she doesn't have any proof. But if it is...]
@ tyler
Maybe? I'm in NY. I'll look at trains and stuff to see when I can get there, but Wynonna and Dolls might be closer. When you get there, can you send me a picture?
[She doesn't want to assume it's Julian without proof. She also will be diverting to another group chat.]

Also, the end to the Gauntlet has happened twice in my lifetime.

And yes, but did those ends involve them jumping into their heirs' bodies permanently?

Not that I'm saying you did this. I know you didn't do this on purpose even if it came from your blood. It was their spell.

But, again, I don't think you did.
What's a doppleganger?

Can someone else field the doppelganger question? Because I am going to bed.

We have three more in Beacon Hills. Does Jenna Sommers mean anything to anyone?
[She assumes she means something to someone because everyone else seems to have connected so far but it's not a last name she recognizes.
And then probably because someone (Parrish or Stiles) makes her:]
Other two have already been identified and we are contacting their loved ones.

Got it. Mystic Falls. We're already calling Caroline.
Congrats on your mom.
[And with that she will be out because Cora and Stiles have arrived at the station, and they're sorting things out here.]
