Just to give a little context here, in high school my best friend was asked to help with a spell. Instead of what the spell was meant for, getting a necklace back, long story, she called forth her slutty vampire alter-ego. But, none of us knew it because it took a few hours to kick in. In her world, Sunnydale was enslaved to the vampires, or it sounded like it anyway. She spent a few hours trying to recreate her happy place. It didn't work. We foiled her, admittedly, kind of half-assed evil plan and sent her back to her world.

Also, just a little more context. Reality's not as strong as it seems, it can be warped with the right spell. So, it's very possible along with some of our new returns, we might get some borderline wonky ones. I've been to a Hell dimension where time worked differently and also I spent, like, a few days in this remade reality in college. Don't ask and rip up any Jonathan posters if you find any. (You probably won't find any.)

Long story way long, I have experience in this so anybody can text me if they need help with advice or coping or just plain scream-into-pillow time.

I wish reality was as concrete as it feels most of the time but the reality of reality is if it's powerful or disruptive enough, it can puncture through.

If they're landing in pairs (Fred aside, no offense Fred), then that might make them easier to track and find. I'm not on the job right now but I can reach out to some of my LEO friends and see if we can keep tabs any strange occurrences.

A wish spell would make one person come back, but this many? Who wished it and what did they wish? And why aren't we having a revival situation on our hands?

Well, we kind of are, but not to the extent of like, reverse rapture.

Also, if it were a wish, we'd probably all just take it at face value. Like they were never gone in the first place. Or, something even wackier. And we wouldn't even know it was a wish.

Though, I guess one very specific, random wish could do the trick.
